Black Queens celebrate a goal

Ghana women's national football team opened their Pink Ladies Cup campaign in emphatic fashion, cruising to a 4:0 victory over Hong Kong women's national football team with a display that blended sharp attacking play and defensive discipline.

Ghana asserted control from the outset, dominating possession and pressing aggressively in the opposition half. Their early authority translated into a breakthrough in the 27th minute when Princess Dankwa Marfo slotted home to give the Queens the lead.

The pressure never eased, and Ghana’s persistence paid off again just before halftime, as Doris Boaduwaa found the net in the 40th minute to double the advantage.

The second half could not have started better for the Queens. Within two minutes of the restart, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah punished a moment of uncertainty at the back to stretch the lead to 3:0 in the 47th minute.

Even with a comfortable cushion, Ghana stayed compact and organised defensively, restricting Hong Kong to only a handful of meaningful opportunities.

Patience Ajegipena Zakaria then put the finishing touch on the performance, scoring late in the game to wrap up a comprehensive 4:0 triumph. The debutant’s goal highlighted the team’s depth and capped an assured all-round display.

The convincing result hands Ghana valuable momentum heading into their next fixture, where they will face Russia women's national football team on Matchday Two.
