Ghana’s Black Queens continue their preparations for continental duty with a crucial second fixture against the Russia women's national football team at the Pink Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The invitational tournament forms a key part of Ghana’s build-up to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will be staged in Morocco later this month. With competitive matches scarce ahead of the continental showpiece, the technical team is using the competition to fine-tune tactics, assess combinations, and sharpen match fitness.

Ghana made a strong statement in their opening match, dismantling the Hong Kong women's national football team 4–0 at the Al Hamriya Sports Club Stadium. Goals from Princess Marfo, Doris Boaduwaa, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, and debutant Agejipina Zakaria highlighted a dominant display and underlined the squad’s attacking depth.

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren now turns his attention to what is expected to be a tougher examination against the Russians, before concluding the round-robin series against the Tanzania women's national football team on Friday. The objective remains straightforward: maintain momentum, secure positive results, and challenge for the tournament title.

There was brief uncertainty about Ghana’s participation due to regional tensions in parts of the Middle East. However, the Ghana Football Association quickly reassured stakeholders that the delegation remains safe and unaffected.

Russia head into the contest with confidence. Champions of the inaugural edition in 2024 and runners-up last year, they signaled their strength with a convincing 4–1 win over Tanzania, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense and competitive clash with the Black Queens.
