The immediate former coach of Ghana Premier League (GPL) giants Asante Kotoko FC, Abdul Karim Zito, has officially joined Division One League side FC Ashantigold 04 as the club intensifies its push for promotion to the top flight.

Zito, who recently parted ways with Asante Kotoko after a spell of inconsistent results, brings a wealth of experience and a proven winning mentality to the Obuasi-based side.

Despite leaving the Porcupine Warriors, the coach remains one of Ghanaian football’s most respected tacticians.

Confirming his appointment, FC Ashantigold 04 highlighted the value Zito adds to the technical team.

“Coach Karim Zito is in our camp. He has joined the technical team. His experience, discipline, and winning mindset add strength to our bench and belief to our squad. Welcome to FC Ashantigold, Coach. Let’s get to work,” the club said.

Zito’s domestic achievements include guiding Kotoko to multiple trophies, including the FA Cup, President’s Cup, and Toyota Cup. He also enjoyed a historic CAF Confederation Cup run with Dreams FC, leading them to the semi-finals before being edged out by Egyptian side Zamalek SC.

FC Ashantigold 04 currently leads Division One League Zone 2 with 40 points from 20 matches.

The club is banking on Zito’s leadership and tactical expertise to sustain their momentum and secure a return to Ghana’s Premier League.
