AFCON 2025: Otto Addo names 25-man squad for Ghana, Sudan clash
Ghana's head coach, Otto Addo, has named a 25-man squad for the upcoming doubleheader against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Defenders Alexander Djiku and Gideon Mensah make their return to the team after missing the previous qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
FC Samartex left-back Isaac Afful, who has been in fine form in both the CAF Champions League preliminaries and the Ghana Premier League, has earned his first call-up to the national team.
Olympique Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah and Atalanta's Ibrahim Sulemana have also been recalled after overcoming injuries that sidelined them during the last set of qualifiers.
Ghana will face Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, before travelling to Libya for the second leg at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benina, on Monday, October 14, 2024.
After a disappointing start to the qualifiers—losing 1-0 to Angola and drawing 1-1 with Niger—the Black Stars will be eager to bounce back with victories in these crucial fixtures.
The team is set to open camp on Monday ahead of the matches.
