The Black Stars will depart for Kansas City at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, bringing to a close a three-week base in Rhode Island during which Ghana faced Panama, England and Croatia as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana’s stay in New England served as the team’s final preparation and group-stage hub ahead of Friday’s Round of 32 match against Colombia at Kansas City Stadium. A place in the Round of 16 will be at stake.

“We are grateful to Rhode Island for hosting us,” Black Stars management said on Wednesday.

“Our sincere thanks go to the Rhode Island Sheriff’s Department and the Providence Security Team for their professionalism and selfless service throughout our stay. We also felt the incredible support of the Ghanaian community in New England, who made Providence feel like home.”

The team arrived in Rhode Island on June 11 following preparatory camps in Cardiff and Virginia. While based at the Providence Hilton and training at Bryant University, Ghana played fixtures in the region, including matches against Panama, England and Croatia.

The squad now turns its attention to Kansas City and the upcoming clash with Colombia.

Ghana goes into Friday’s match with its knockout-stage hopes still alive. A victory would secure qualification to the Round of 16 for the first time since 2010.
