Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has expressed confidence in the Black Stars’ determination to recover from their setback against Chad as they prepare to face Mali in a crucial World Cup qualifier on Monday.

Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by Chad in N’Djamena on Thursday, September 4, during their Matchday 7 clash in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series.

Jordan Ayew put the visitors ahead in the 17th minute, but Celestine Ecau struck late to earn a point for the hosts.

Speaking after visiting the Black Stars’ camp in Accra, Mr. Adams said both the players and the technical team have admitted their mistakes and assured him of their commitment to correcting them.

“The team acknowledged what went wrong and assured me they are focused on putting things right,” the Buem MP told reporters.

“The head coach was clear that they’ve taken lessons from the game and are determined to give everything on Monday.”

The Black Stars host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8, with kickoff scheduled for 19:00 GMT.

Ghana currently tops Group I with 16 points after seven matches as the race to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico intensifies.
