Can Ghana Civil Aviation Authority defend their title this year?
As preparations intensify for the 2026 University of Ghana Corporate Football League (UGCFL), all eyes are on the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the reigning champions who lifted the inaugural trophy in 2025 after a penalty shootout win over Union Ghana.
The 2025 edition of the league captured wide attention with its competitive drama and corporate camaraderie.
GCAA produced a memorable performance throughout the tournament, including a tactical semi-final win over the Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club and a thrilling final that saw goalkeeper Tsawodzi Ruben make crucial saves in the shootout to secure a 4–2 victory against Union Ghana, while Prince Aboagye was named Most Valuable Player.
The champions will face increased competition as corporate football continues to grow in Ghana.

Teams such as Union Ghana, who pushed GCAA all the way in last year’s final and other strong contenders from across corporate Ghana will be keen to challenge for the title, pushing the defending champions to raise their game further.
The challenge is not just about defending silverware; it’s about setting a benchmark for excellence in corporate sports while inspiring other institutions to elevate their football programmes. Their success last year has already set a high standard, and many will be watching closely to see if they can cement their status as the league’s first champions or if a new champion will emerge in 2026.
As anticipation builds towards this year’s kick-off season, the question remains: Can GCAA rise to the challenge and defend their title, or will a new corporate powerhouse be crowned champion in UGCFL 2026?
Fans and teams alike will find out when the whistle blows and the race for the 2026 trophy begins on February 6th 2026 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The University of Ghana Corporate Football League is brought to you by University of Ghana Sports & Wellness Directorate and RITE Sports Services.
