FIFA Women’s Football Campaign begins tomorrow in Volta Region
The Ghana Football Association (GFA), through its Women’s Football Department, is set to host the latest edition of the FIFA Women’s Football Campaign tomorrow, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the WAFA Academy in Fiavie, Volta Region.
The grassroots initiative is part of FIFA’s broader drive to promote women’s football globally by encouraging more young girls to take up the sport and providing them with an opportunity to build their skills in a supportive and enjoyable setting.
About 300 girls drawn from schools and communities within the Volta Region are expected to take part in the event, which will include football drills, talent development activities, fun-filled games, and interactive sessions aimed at inspiring participants.
The programme supports the goals of the Ghana Women’s Football Strategy (2023–2026), which is focused on expanding participation, nurturing emerging talents, and advancing gender inclusion through football.
GFA Women’s Football Development Officer Jennifer Amankwah Sarpong, together with officials from the Association, coaches, and programme facilitators, will guide participants through the activities and encourage them to explore football as both a recreational pursuit and a competitive pathway.
The FIFA Women’s Football Campaign remains a key component of efforts to increase opportunities for girls in football and reflects the GFA’s continued commitment to strengthening the women’s game at the grassroots level.
