FC AshantiGold 04 have suffered a significant setback in their quest for Ghana Premier League (GPL) promotion after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) imposed a five-match home ban on the club for misconduct during an Access Bank Division One League fixture.

The GFA Disciplinary Committee also fined AshantiGold 04 GHS 30,000 and issued a formal warning following incidents in their match against Sekondi Rospak FC. The club was found guilty of failing to ensure the safety of match officials and of inappropriate behaviour by their supporters.

The home match ban takes effect immediately, while the fine must be settled within 14 days of receiving official notification. The GFA further warned that any recurrence of similar misconduct could result in harsher penalties.

The ruling comes at a crucial stage of the season and could impact AshantiGold 04’s promotion ambitions. The club currently trails the league leaders by just one point, with 13 matches remaining. Being forced to play home fixtures away from their usual ground is likely to test their form and momentum in a tightly contested promotion race.

With competition at the top so close, AshantiGold 04 must now demonstrate both resilience on the pitch and discipline off it to remain in contention for a return to the Ghana Premier League.
