GFA tasks DCOP Lydia Donkor to investigate hooliganism, killing of Kotoko supporter
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has tasked Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Donkor to lead a team to begin investigations into the acts of hooliganism that soiled a Ghana Premier League (GPL) match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko SC.
The game happened at the Nana Kronamansah Park in Nsoatre, Bono Ahafo Region, Sunday, February 2, 2025.
DCOP Lydia Donkor, who serves as the Head of GFA's Security Committee, together with her team and the FA Prosecutor, will look into causes of the violence and vandalism which eventually led to the stabbing to death of an Asante Kotoko fan identified as Francis Yaw Frimpong (Pooley).
The GFA said, “The incident – which deserves condemnation from all football stakeholders, will be subjected to full-scale investigations in our attempt to curb hooliganism in our football.
“We assure the public of our commitment to conduct an exhaustive investigation into the incident and take decisive action against those found culpable.
“Football fans and the general public are urged to assist with any relevant information to aid the investigation.”
