GPL: Ashantigold beat Great Olympics to go top

AshantiGold SC on Sunday recorded their first win of the season as they came from behind to beat Accra Great Olympics 2-1 in a Premier League fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The win takes them to the top of the table with 15 points.
Olympics made two changes to the team that lost to Aduana Stars last weekend in Dormaa. David Amuzu and Abdul Manaf Mudasiru replaced Eric Osei Bonsu and Sunday Alhassan in the starting line-up.
The Miners also altered with their side by making three changes to the team that won over Berekum Chelsea last week. Felix Clottey was handed his debut start in goal replacing Mohammed Bailou.
Appiah McCarthy and Eric Esso were in debvasting form for the Obuasi lads with some jaw breaking midfield displays.
Samed Ibrahim took the place of suspended Richard Osei Agyemang in central defence whilst Frank Akoto came in for Roland Amouzou at left back.
Gladson Awako broke the game's duck in the 13th minute to put the hosts ahead with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box to beat goalkeeper Clottey.
AshantiGold drew level on the stroke of halftime with a fine finish from Amos Addai after receiving an excellent pass from Isaac Opoku Agyemang. He beautifully controlled the ball with his left foot before smashing it beyond the Olympics goalkeeper.
The Miners got their noses in front just two minutes after recess through Yaw Annor who replaced Amos Addai. Annor connected an incisive pass from Opoku Agyemang to slot home.
Accra Great Olympics threw men forward ion search of the equalizer but their attempts proved futile.
Defender Jamal Deen Haruna came close in the 84th minute but his header missed the goal by inches.
AshantiGold SC nearly scored the third goal in the 87th minute after a neat pass from David Abagna was missed by substitute Walid Neymar.
The Miners played their hearts out in the last five minutes of the game with goalkeeper Felix Clottey being on alert to avert any last-minute danger.
AshantiGold will be tackling Medeama SC at the Len Clay Stadium in their next game. While Great Olympics take on Inter Allies FC in an Accra derby.
