The game ultimately ended with the USA securing a resounding victory with the four goals they scored in the opening half

In an international friendly, the United States of America (USA) handed a crushing 4-0 defeat to Ghana's Black Stars, leaving the African side humiliated.

The match, which was the second friendly game for Ghana during the October international window, witnessed a comical first-half display from the Black Stars, allowing the Americans to score four goals within the opening 40 minutes.

Giovanni Reyna was the standout player for the USA, securing a brace.

The American onslaught began in the 10th minute when Giovanni Reyna exploited a defensive lapse by the Black Stars, putting the USA in the lead.

The lead was quickly doubled in the 19th minute when AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic converted a penalty after Timothy Weah was fouled in the box. Weah then turned provider, forcing Ghana's debutant Jerome Opoku into an error, and setting up Folarin Balogun to extend the USA's lead to 3.

Ghana narrowly avoided further embarrassment when Balogun's close-range header was saved by goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen in the 30th minute. Nurudeen made another vital save five minutes later to deny Pulisic from adding to his tally.

Giovanni Reyna continued his dominance in the 40th minute by netting his second goal of the match, concluding a well-executed free kick. Mohammed Kudus managed to force an excellent save from USA's Matt Turner, marking Ghana's first shot on target during the October international break.

After halftime, Ghana's coach Chris Hughton made one change, bringing in Kingsley Schindler for Gideon Mensah. However, both teams displayed limited attacking intent in the second half, resulting in a scoreless period.

The game ultimately ended with the USA securing a resounding victory with the four goals they scored in the opening half.

The Black Stars manager, made six changes to the team compared to their previous fixture against Mexico, with Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Alidu Seidu, Jerome Opoku, Edmund Addo, Jordan Ayew, and Inaki Williams all included in the starting lineup.

The defeat in this friendly game marked Ghana's second loss in the October international break, following a 0-2 loss to Mexico over the weekend. It also represented a setback for Chris Hughton, who had previously enjoyed an unbeaten run of five games as head coach.

Looking ahead, the four-time African champions will regroup in November as they embark on the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup before preparing to compete in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations(AfCoN) in Ivory Coast next January.
