Ghana have had a disappointing start to their TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations ongoing in Cameroon.

The Black Stars, a football powerhouse in Africa, have gathered only one point in two games in the competition.

The team lost 0-1 to Morocco and drew one-all with Gabon in a game the Black Stars needed to have won to avoid the pressure they face against Comoros.

To avoid an early embarrassing exit, Ghana must win convincingly against Comoros in their last Afcon Group C game today, Tuesday, 18 January 2022.

Speaking to the media ahead of the crucial encounter, Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac, said: “It’s a very important game for us”.

“We need to finish the group with a win and will do everything to guarantee this happening”, he said, adding: “Our team develops well but we need time and patience.”

For his part, defender Jonathan Mensah said: “We will give our best because this is a must-win for us”.

“We have no internal problems”, Mensah said, noting: “All the games are difficult”.

“As a veteran player, my role is to help the new faces. We will fight for our national jersey”, he promised.

The Comoros, who are making their first appearance in Africa's biggest football competition, come into the game with nothing to lose after two defeats in the two games played so far against Morocco and Gabon.

Their coach, Amir Abdou, confirmed this to the media, saying: “The game is very important for us”.

“We had two good games against Gabon and Morocco but luck was not on our side”, he observed.

“I told the players to consider this as if it was the final. Ghana is a very good team but we will do our best. We have nothing to lose and we must be strong and brave.”

Comoros striker Said Bakari further said: “We will give our all. We need to play more competitions like this and increase our experience. This is the greatest event we have been to. We will show the good side of Comoros.”

A win for the Black Stars will give them four points and may push them to the round 16th stage of the competition, as one of the best third-placed teams in the competition but they must win convincingly.
