Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has attributed Ghana's 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 to the early injury suffered by defender Marvin Senaya.

Ghana's World Cup campaign came to an end on Friday after Jhon Arias scored the only goal of the match to send Colombia into the Round of 16.

Speaking after the game, Queiroz said Senaya's early departure disrupted the team's defensive organisation and contributed to Colombia's breakthrough.

"The moment Senaya came off, the team did not have the same discipline and organisation. It took Alidu Seidu a few minutes to adjust, and they took advantage of that moment to score," he said.

Senaya was forced off with an injury in the opening stages of the first half and was replaced by Alidu Seidu. Colombia scored shortly afterwards, with Arias finishing a move that proved decisive.

Queiroz said the enforced substitution affected Ghana's defensive shape at a crucial point in the match, allowing Colombia to capitalise.

The Black Stars were unable to recover from the early setback as Colombia maintained control for much of the contest and limited Ghana's attacking opportunities.

The defeat ended Ghana's hopes of progressing beyond the Round of 32 after qualifying for the knockout stage as one of the tournament's best third-placed teams.

Colombia advance to the Round of 16, while Ghana's campaign comes to an end with attention expected to turn to the team's upcoming international fixtures.
