Summerville celebrates first West Ham goal by kissing Kudus
Crysencio Summerville has explained his viral goal celebration during his West Ham United side and Manchester United match at the London Olympic Stadium.
The winger, after scoring his first for the Hammers, rushed across the field and into the stands to go hug and kiss his mate Mohammed Kudus.
According to Summerville – who affectionately calls Mohammed Kudus, Mo – Kudus is his role model. He added, he had told Kudus he would score once he was fielded.
“I told Mo that when I came on I was going to score, and that I was going to celebrate with him! I like Mo a lot – I look up to him on and off the pitch, and the emotions all just came out,” the Man of the Match said.
Concerning the goal which was West Ham's first out of 2, Summerville, a former Leeds United player, underscored his patience and preparedness.
“I’m very happy with the goal. You always have to be alert in the box, I was switched on and I was happy to see the ball fall to my feet,” he remarked.
“I’ve had to be patient at times so far this season, but when I come on I just try to give energy to the team. I think that’s why West Ham wanted me in the summer, and I think I managed to bring some joy to the stadium today.”
In the end, West Ham United defeated Manchester United 2:1, returning to winning ways in the English Premier League.
In view of a recent red card, Mohammed Kudus will spectate in the stands. He is expected to return to action on November 25, 2024.
