Swansea City have agreed a deal to sign Ghanaian winger Joseph Opoku from Belgian club Zulte Waregem.

The 20-year old will travel with the squad to Austria to complete his medical before the transfer is finalized.

Opoku is set to become Swansea’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window following the earlier arrivals of Stephen Welsh, Moussa Yeo and Leo Walta.

The winger developed at Zulte Waregem and is known for his explosive pace, direct dribbling, and ability to take on defenders in wide areas.

After starting his youth career at Great Corinthians FC in Ghana, he moved to Zulte Waregem in August 2024, helping them win the 2024/25 Challenger Pro League title and secure promotion to the top flight.

During the 2025/26 Belgian Pro League season, Opoku enjoyed a breakout campaign on the left wing, delivering 10 goals and 16 assists across all competitions and earning the Jupiler Pro League Player of the Month award in April 2026. 

On the international stage, he represented Ghana at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations before receiving his first senior call-up to the Black Stars in May 2026.

Swansea secured his signature amidst competing interest from several European clubs including Hull City, Genoa, Trabzonspor, and Real Sociedad. 

The winger will add dynamic attacking options for Swansea ahead of the new championship campaign.

The club is currently in Austria for pre-season and the medical is expected to be completed there in the coming days.
