Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante says the Black Stars are feeling no pressure ahead of Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup Group L clash against England at Boston Stadium.

Thomas-Asante, who provided the stoppage-time assist in Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Panama in Toronto, said the team remains focused on its objective and is not concerned by outside opinions.

Speaking to the Ghana Football Association's official website, the Coventry City striker said the squad's belief in itself is stronger than any external expectations.

“Everything to the best ability, it’s very much a case of — we back ourselves, we believe in ourselves. Whether people on the outside doubt us, believe us, or anything — that’s not what we think about. We think about why we’re here. We’re on a mission,” he said.

According to Thomas-Asante, that mindset removes any sense of pressure from the team.

“That means there’s no pressure. It’s even less pressure for us,” he added.

“We know our fans believe, but we know that some people might want to overlook us. We use that to our advantage — preparing properly and believing that we can go and do something.”

Ghana and England are both on three points in Group L heading into the encounter. England opened their campaign with a 4-2 win over Croatia, while Ghana defeated Panama 1-0.

The winner of Tuesday’s match will take a significant step towards qualification from the group. Kick-off at Boston Stadium is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET.
