Thomas Partey joins Villarreal on two-year deal

Ghana midfielder and former Arsenal star Thomas Partey has completed a move to Spanish La Liga side Villarreal CF, marking his return to Spanish football.
The 31-year-old, who left Arsenal earlier this summer, signed a two-year contract with the “Yellow Submarine” as a free agent after reportedly passing his medical earlier in the week.
Villarreal officially confirmed the signing on Thursday, August 7, adding that Partey will join his new teammates for training on Friday, August 9.
This move sees Partey return to familiar territory in La Liga, where he previously enjoyed great success with Atletico Madrid before making a high-profile switch to the Premier League in 2020.
In their announcement, Villarreal praised Partey’s qualities, describing him as “an excellent ball winner” with the ability to initiate attacks from deep positions.
The club highlighted his “powerful mid-range shot” and his capacity to “break the lines when driving forward.”
Partey’s arrival is expected to bolster Villarreal’s midfield options as they prepare for the upcoming La Liga campaign.
