Ghana’s senior women’s national team, Black Queens, will begin preparations for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with participation in the Pinks Ladies Cup tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The competition is scheduled to take place from February 28 to March 6, 2026, and will offer the team a valuable platform to fine-tune the squad, test tactical combinations, and build match fitness ahead of the continental tournament.
The Pinks Ladies Cup, regarded as a high-level international competition, brings together national teams from across the world. This year’s edition will feature Ghana, Russia, Hong Kong, and Tanzania.

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren is expected to use the tournament to evaluate both experienced players and emerging talents as he shapes his squad for WAFCON.
The preparatory matches are also expected to expose the Black Queens to varied playing styles and intense game situations, helping the team strengthen its readiness for the competition.
Participation in the UAE-based tournament underscores the commitment of the Ghana Football Association and the Government to ensuring the team receives optimal preparation as it targets a strong showing at WAFCON.
The Black Queens are expected to depart for the UAE ahead of the tournament, with details of the squad to be announced in the coming days.
