University of Ghana restricts exercise activities on campus
The University of Ghana has issued a notice restricting exercise activities on its Legon Campus.
The restriction, which takes effect immediately, prohibits exercise activities after 7:30 a.m. on weekdays in certain areas of the campus.
According to the notice, signed by the Registrar, the restriction is intended to ensure that core academic and administrative activities proceed smoothly.
The University has observed that employees, students, and members of the public regularly use the campus for physical exercise and welcomes healthy living and wellness.
However, it has become necessary to restrict exercise activities in certain areas to prevent hindrance to staff and students accessing their offices, lecture halls, and laboratories.
The restricted areas include the Convocation group of buildings (Registry), other administrative areas, and academic facilities. The University encourages employees, students, and members of the public to make use of other designated areas, including facilities under the University's Sports and Wellness Directorate on weekdays.
The University campus remains open and accessible for exercise activities on weekends, although there may be restrictions on weekends when official University events are taking place.
The University values its positive relationship with the public and appreciates the cooperation of all users of the campus in helping to maintain a safe environment that supports both academic excellence and healthy lifestyles.
