2 young men in court over alleged Ashaiman robbery and assault
Two young men have been brought before court over their alleged involvement in a robbery and assault incident that occurred in Ashaiman in the early hours of June 13, 2026.
The complainant, 29-year-old trader Annette Bless Mantebea, who lives at Zongo Laka in Ashaiman, told police she was attacked while walking near the Ashaiman Pesewa Plaza area around 2:00 a.m.
Police investigations indicate that one of the accused, Mohammed Saad, aged 18, allegedly assaulted her and took her handbag containing GH¢300. During a struggle, the complainant reportedly retrieved the bag. The suspect then allegedly took her Tecno Pop 8 mobile phone, valued at GH¢1,000, and attempted to flee.
According to police, the second accused, Aaron Tetteh, aged 19, was allegedly waiting nearby on a black Royal Eagle motorbike with registration number M-25-GT 1028 to assist in their escape. He is said to have fled the scene, while Mohammed Saad was arrested with the help of some bystanders.
The complainant sustained injuries, including damage to her front teeth, and was issued with a police medical report form. She later received treatment at the Ashaiman Municipal Hospital, and a medical report confirmed the assault.
Police further stated that on June 15, 2026, the father of the first accused brought Aaron Tetteh to the police station, where he was identified as a suspected accomplice and arrested to assist with investigations.
During investigations, Aaron Tetteh allegedly led police to the residence of the motorbike owner said to have been used in the incident, but neither the owner nor the motorbike was found.
Police say both accused persons gave caution statements in which they allegedly admitted involvement in the offence. The handbag and mobile phone have been retained as exhibits.
The two accused persons have been charged with robbery-related offences and are facing prosecution.
