Jerry Ahmed Shaib visits beneficiaries of constituency eye surgery programme
Weija-Gbawe MP and Second Deputy Minority Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has visited 40 residents who underwent eye surgery under a constituency healthcare initiative.
The beneficiaries were discharged from SDA Valley View Hospital on June 18 after undergoing surgery a day earlier.
The surgeries followed a week-long eye screening exercise conducted across the constituency in March 2026 in partnership with the Columbia Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists from the United States, Ghana Adventist Health Services (GAHS), and Valley View Hospital.
A total of 221 residents were shortlisted for further treatment after the screening, with 40 reporting for surgery on June 16 and 17.
During his visit, Mr Shaib interacted with the beneficiaries and assessed their recovery, while reaffirming his commitment to expanding access to healthcare services in the constituency.
He also commended the medical teams and partner organisations involved in the programme.
The MP said the intervention forms part of ongoing efforts under his #JASCARES initiative to improve healthcare access, particularly for residents requiring specialised medical services.
