ATL workers strike over unpaid salaries, allowances
Workers at Akosombo Textile Limited (ATL) have commenced a sit-down strike due to unpaid salaries and other outstanding allowances dating back to 2021.
Employees on strike have claimed that the company's machinery has been disassembled and sold as scrap, raising doubts about its operational viability.
Concerns have also been raised regarding inadequate compensation.
The strike began on Friday morning, initiated by the workers themselves, as they feel neglected by the local textile workers’ union's leadership.
They accuse the union of prioritizing management interests over theirs.
