Access Bank announces blood donation drive to support Sickle Cell

Access Bank Ghana has announced a special blood donation exercise scheduled for Thursday, June 19, 2025, as part of efforts to support individuals living with sickle cell disease across the country.
The initiative, which will take place at the Access Bank Head Office Car Park in Accra, is expected to run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and forms part of the bank’s broader commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and public health.
According to the bank, the blood drive is aimed at replenishing critical blood stocks and offering direct support to sickle cell patients who often require regular transfusions to manage their condition.
In a statement, Access Bank encouraged staff, customers, partners, and the general public to participate in the exercise, noting that donating blood is a life-saving gesture that can make a significant difference in the lives of many.
“Sickle cell carriers face frequent and urgent medical needs, particularly access to safe blood.
This donation drive is our way of standing in solidarity with them and contributing meaningfully to their well-being,” the bank noted.
The event also coincides with World Sickle Cell Day, observed globally on June 19 to raise awareness about the genetic blood disorder and promote early diagnosis, care, and treatment for affected individuals.
Access Bank has over the years undertaken several health-focused initiatives under its “More Than Banking” agenda, reinforcing its role as a socially responsible corporate citizen.
The bank is calling on all eligible donors to join the cause and help save lives
