Commercial Transport Operators have said they are "compelled" to call on the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Finance, and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Trade and Industry, Transport, and Finance to reduce the prices of spare parts.

In a statement dated September 9, 2025, the Commercial Transport Operators bemoaned government making a promise to reduce the prices of spare parts but failing to do so.

They cautioned "the situation will escalate" and they would "take drastic measures" if what seemed like apathy continued.

Thus, they asked several government offices to be "swift" and intervene.

"Some time in March 2025, we engaged with spare parts dealers and government officials, and a promise was made to reduce the prices of spare parts. Unfortunately, this promise has not been fulfilled, and the prices remain exorbitant," the statement recalled.

"If immediate action is not taken, we fear that the situation will escalate, and we may be forced to take drastic measures that could disrupt transportation services. We cannot continue to operate under these unsustainable conditions," the Commercial Transport Operators cautioned.

The statement continued, "We urge the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Finance to intervene and ensure that spare parts dealers adhere to their promise. We also call on the Parliamentary Select Committee on Trade and Industry, Transport, and Finance to add their voice to this matter and hold the relevant stakeholders accountable."

"We expect swift action to address this pressing issue. Failure to do so will have severe consequences for our industry and the economy as a whole," the statement concluded.
