Electrocem eyes higher salt output with mechanisation drive
Electrochem Ghana Limited has announced plans to mechanise its salt production processes as part of efforts to significantly increase output and sustain operations throughout the year.
The move forms part of the company's strategy to transition into full-scale commercial production while addressing longstanding challenges affecting productivity.
Speaking in an interview with Rebecca Lartey, the Chief Executive Officer of Electrochem Ghana Limited, Francis Boamah, said the company is exploring more efficient production methods to improve operational capacity and maximise salt yields.
According to him, one of the company's biggest challenges has been low production volumes, making mechanisation a key priority to increase metric tonnage and enhance efficiency.
Mr Boamah disclosed that the recent heavy rains dealt a major blow to the company's operations after floodwaters inundated all its salt pans, disrupting production activities.
Despite the setback, he said Electrochem remains committed to investing in innovative drainage and water management systems to evacuate excess water without flooding the salt pans or nearby communities.
He expressed optimism that the planned mechanisation and improved water management measures would strengthen the company's resilience, boost production capacity and position Electrochem for sustainable commercial growth.
