Hand over Saglemi housing project to TDC- Parliamentary Select Committee to gov't

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Works and Housing, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, has appealed to the government to hand over the stalled Saglemi Housing Project to the Tema Development Company (TDC) for completion and management.
Mr. Asamoah made the call during a working visit to assess ongoing housing projects, including TDC’s Estate project, where 800 housing units are currently under construction.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and commended the contractors for their commitment and presence on site.
He also praised the leadership of TDC’s acting Managing Director, Courage Nunekpeku, for steering the company effectively.
According to Mr. Asamoah, TDC has demonstrated its capacity to deliver and, with the necessary support, is well-positioned to complete the long-abandoned Saglemi Housing Project.
He further urged President John Mahama and the government to resist calls to hand over the project to private developers, arguing that a public institution like TDC is better suited for the task.
Echoing the Committee Chair’s sentiments, Mr. Nunekpeku expressed confidence in TDC’s ability to manage and complete the Saglemi project. He highlighted the company’s technical expertise, track record, and available resources as strong indicators of its readiness to take on the responsibility.
