NPA launches steering committee to drive 24-hour economy in petroleum sector

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has inaugurated a Steering Committee to spearhead the implementation of the government’s 24-Hour Economy policy within the downstream petroleum industry.
The committee was officially launched at a ceremony held on Friday, July 25, 2025.
Addressing the event, NPA Chief Executive, Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, underscored the sector's pivotal role in actualising the transformative policy, which seeks to enhance economic productivity through continuous service delivery.
Mr. Tameklo, who also chairs the newly formed committee, said it will be responsible for developing regulatory frameworks, strategic plans, and timelines to facilitate a smooth rollout of the initiative across the petroleum value chain.
Speaking on behalf of the Presidential Advisor, Ing. Roland Azuvugu highlighted eight strategic pillars underpinning the policy.
These include tackling infrastructure deficits, improving access to capital, and ensuring efficient logistics to support 24/7 operations.
Key industry players, including representatives from the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) and the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), pledged their full support for the initiative.
They emphasised the need for enhanced infrastructure, improved digital tracking systems, and strengthened security at critical storage and distribution hubs.
The committee is expected to work closely with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of round-the-clock petroleum services nationwide—an effort aimed at boosting national productivity, energy accessibility, and job creation.
