V/R: ECG launches Loss Reduction Project in Ho, calls for collaboration

To check power theft and losses, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced the deployment of smart prepaid meters in the Volta Region as part of its Loss Reduction Project (LRP) initiative.
The project, starting from the regional capital Ho, is targeting, among others, customers who connected on flat rate monthly consumption, as well as replacing faulty prepaid meters.
The Ho District Manager of ECG, Ing Mark Ekor, said that, from Ho, the initiative will be extended to sister districts across the Volta Region.
He said the roll out aimed to “enhance customer convenience, improve revenue collection, reduce energy losses and improve the overall efficiency of our electricity distribution system across the region.
“We believe this programme will benefit our entire customers by promoting energy conservation and ultimately providing better services to our valued customers.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Wina Technology – partners of the project – Adwoa Haadson-Butler, urged Ghanaians to end power theft. She urged citizens to rather support ECG to generate revenue for the development of the country.
She assured of her outfit’s commitment to ensuring the ECG project was successful to benefit the nation.
