The World Bank has released $360 million to Ghana under its International Development Association (IDA) facility to support efforts to restore macroeconomic stability and lay the groundwork for sustainable growth.

The funds, disbursed on Thursday, September 11, 2025, are part of the Second Resilient Recovery Development Policy Financing (DPF) programme.

The initiative is designed to assist government reforms aimed at boosting economic recovery, creating jobs, and building long-term resilience.

This latest support follows approval by the World Bank Board in June 2025 and ratification by Ghana’s Parliament in July.

It builds on earlier budgetary assistance under the First Resilient Recovery DPF and complements ongoing reforms tied to Ghana’s International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.

The Second Resilient Recovery DPF centres on four priority areas:

Restoring fiscal sustainability through stronger domestic revenue mobilisation and improved budget discipline.

Supporting financial sector stability and encouraging private-sector growth to promote inclusive development.

Improving financial discipline in the energy sector to ensure efficiency and long-term sustainability.

Strengthening social and climate resilience by embedding climate policies and protecting vulnerable communities.

According to the Finance Committee’s July 2, 2025, report, the facility is structured to complement investment lending and technical assistance while accelerating reforms in critical sectors such as energy, finance, and climate adaptation.

The World Bank said the programme’s expected outcomes include stronger fiscal management, a more stable financial sector, greater private investment, improved accountability in the energy sector, and enhanced social and climate safeguards
