Adwoa Smart: Dr Bawumia has not bought me a house

“I’m not pitiful and needy,” actress Belinda Naa Ode 'Adwoa Smart' Oku has said.
“Maybe things are not at their best but I’m content,” she added, noting her heartfelt prayer remained owning a house.
The beloved veteran actress spoke to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo, Thursday, January 16, 2025.
She lamented bloggers creating the impression her circumstances were beggarly and that she came asking for alms the last time she was on the programme, when she only stated she wanted to own a house in response to a question her host had asked.
“Even more, they said the former Vice President, His Excellence Dr Mahamudu Bawumia bought me a house. Apparently, the bloggers composed a picture of the two of us with Dr Bawumia appearing to put a [house] key in my hands,” Adwoa Smart grieved.
She said she had been questioned several times during media appearances as if the rumour were true.
“Were it not for Nana Ampadu’s state funeral, I would have never met Dr Bawumia,” she clarified.
Adwoa Smart noted with grief the rumour could prevent people from expressing kindness to her towards fulfilling her dream of being a real estate owner and beyond.
“It’s really brought me unnecessary pressure. I’m questioned all the time. Someone was even asking me about this last week,” she said.
Thus, concerning her controversy and as a general rule in life, she appealed, “Don’t say or spread what you know is not true.”
Adwoa Smart decried misinformation and disinformation on new media.
“I always say social media is useful but in other instances too it causes trouble, to say the least. Facebook, TikTok, etc., point out crimes, attracting the attention of the relevant authorities but the same social media is used by others for unacceptable things,” she said.
