One-week observance of Daddy Lumba underway at Independence Square

The one-week observance of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, is being marked at Independence Square in Accra today, Saturday, August 30, 2025.
The ceremony has attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, fellow musicians, industry stakeholders, politicians, and devoted fans, all united in paying tribute to the celebrated artist and offering support to his bereaved family.
Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away on July 26, 2025, after a short illness.
He is remembered as one of Ghana’s greatest musicians, whose career produced countless timeless hits, including Aben Wo Ha and Theresa.
Organisers noted that details of his final funeral rites will be communicated to the public in the coming days ahead of his burial.
