Singer Kofi Kinaata has prepared a song to mark some of the tragic events that have befallen the country in recent times.

On May 16, 2025, Highlife star Nana Kwakye 'Dada KD' Duah died under mysterious circumstances, his management only noting they found the singer distressed and unable to speak earlier.

On June 26, Highlife icon Charles Kwadwo 'Daddy Lumba' Fosu passed at 60, after a battle with an undisclosed illness.

On July 28, 16 members of the Saviour Church of Ghana’s Youth Ministry died in an accident on the Atwedie stretch of the Kumasi-Accra highway, returning from Obogu, Asante Akyem South Municipality, Eastern Region, after an annual activity.

On August 6, a Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Z9 helicopter crashed, killing all eight occupants, including two ministers; Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah (Defence), and Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed (Environment, Science & Technology).

These events have particularly caused great grief across Ghana, and its Diaspora. 

Today, Monday, August 25, multiple award-winning singer-songwriter Kinaata noted on Facebook, "From the loss of 16 kids, to the passing of our legendary musicians, and now the helicopter tragedy, it’s been weighing heavily on my soul."

With much details, he added, "What makes it even harder is knowing I’ve been on that same flight twice this year. That thought just won’t leave me."

The artiste admired by royalty and the masses alike, poignantly underlined, "Moments like these really make you question life… what’s the point, when it can all end in an instant?"

In conclusion, he noted efforts at creating music had all been marred by his mourning.

"I’ve tried to shake it off with music, but every song I write somehow turns into a sad one [sad face]," he explained.

Rap heavyweight Sarkodie reacted, encouraging Kinaata to take heart and liberally use his music gift as a catarrises. 

Kinaata warmly accepted the encouragement, and not long after, he revealed he had a song titled 'It is Finished' ready for release tomorrow, August 26. While it is easy to guess Highlife as the song's genre, the perspective Kinaata will sing from remains a surprise. Ultimately, however, the guarantee, as has been proven over the years, is the song will be thought-provoking and, perhaps offer much needed comfort as Ghana mourns.
