Akwaboah: Promiscuity, polygamy end in ‘unnecessary pressure’ and destruction

Akwaboah has noted “the stress with having one woman,” wondering “why a man would want to marry two or three”.
The music star spoke to Nana Romeo on Ayekoo Ayekoo on Accra 100.5 FM, Wednesday, September 18, 2024, reacting to comments by people who argue polygamy was divinely sanctioned per patriarchs of the bible, like King Solomon.
“The one God gave divine wisdom above all others ended up in the temples of idols. The lust for women led him into idolatry even though he was initially on God’s side,” he observed.
Akwaboah admonished young men who cite biblical figures of repute to affirm their polygamous tendencies to be mindful of “the undesirable ending” of the people they claim to imitate.
“When we read about David and others, let’s not stay on the initial glories but let’s pay attention to the end also,” he added.
The multiple award-winning composer lamented: “Men bring on themselves unnecessary pressure” adopting promiscuous and polygamous lifestyles.
He expressed bewilderment at men who were “unfaithful no matter how attractive, submissive, resourceful and sexual adventurous their wives were”.
A newlywed, the Highlife star said “for now – I’m not an angel just like everyone else – so I cannot personally say I will be faithful or otherwise” even though he categorically emphasised steering clear of marital infidelity because it led, in his view, to ruination.
Finally, Akwaboah noted infidelity was not solely a male flaw: “Some women are heavily unfaithful but it’s secretly done.”
