'Arrive alive': Celestine Donkor champions road safety, partners RSA ahead of festive season
Gospel singer Celestine Donkor is taking her message of inspiration from the stage to the pavements, as she teams up with the Road Safety Authority (RSA) to champion a nationwide road-safety campaign.
Unveiled just in time for the high-traffic festive season, the partnership aims to put the brakes on Ghana’s alarming rate of road accidents — and it’s doing so with music, creativity and community engagement at the centre of the drive.
As part of the campaign, the Agbebolo hitmaker will compose fresh songs and produce engaging video content designed to highlight the causes of road crashes, while encouraging drivers and pedestrians alike to take road safety seriously.
And she’s keeping the message simple and relatable.
“Wear your seat belt always, and be patient on the roads,” Celestine has urged motorists.
The call could not be more urgent. Between January and August 2025 alone, a staggering 1,937 people reportedly lost their lives in road accidents — translating to about six to eight deaths every single day in Ghana.
This is not Celestine Donkor’s first time using her influence for the greater good. She previously served as a vaccination ambassador for the Ghana Health Service (GHS) during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping to boost public confidence in vaccines. Beyond that, she has quietly led her fellow female gospel musicians in supporting elderly and ailing veterans in the music industry, offering donations and care without fanfare.
The road safety campaign further underscores Celestine Donkor’s long-standing humanitarian spirit — a Gospel star driven not by profit or publicity, but by a genuine concern for lives and community well-being. In this season of celebration and movement, her message is clear: slow down, stay safe, and arrive alive.
