The Creative Arts Agency (CAA), organisers of Daddy Lumba’s candle light vigil, have the programme’s indefinite postponement.

This was in a statement dated Thursday, August 7, 2025, signed by Gideon Aryeequaye, acting Executive Secretary. 

The announcement followed the tragic passing of eight occupants of a Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Z9 helicopter on August 6. Two of the deceased were Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, and Environment Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

President John Dramani Mahama has declared a three-day national mourning, which began yesterday, August 7, in honour of the victims.

The CAA have expressed condolences to the families of the victims, and to the nation

Earlier, at the Independence (Black Star) Square, in Accra, Saturday, August 2, the first vigil for Highlife icon Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, was a grand success. Tomorrow, Saturday, August 9, the Kumasi version was to take place, except for the postponement.

The Bubra hitmaker, 60, passed on Saturday, July 26, after a short illness.
