Dada KD says, recording with Bobo Staiger could cost up to €8k

Recording with German singer, guitarist and sound engineer Bodo Staiger could cost up to “8,000 euros for just 10 songs,” Highlife singer-songwriter Dada KD has revealed.
He was speaking to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo about the sacrifices and investments he had made to ensure his success in music.
“I’m talking about those times when I started in 1997, 1998,” he underlined.
“I’ve spent so much on music. I’m now making back the money little by little. So if you don’t get a helper, you’d roam till a wild animal devours you.”
Despite all the challenges confronting him, including poor royalty collection systems in Ghana – making local acts the “most pitiful worldwide” in his regard – the Highlife star emphasised, “We’re determined and resolute knowing this profession comes with many ups and downs. It is same in every field. The only difference is our struggles and our story is recorded for everyone to witness.”
Staiger died in 2019. He was a legendary musician who worked with many important Ghanaian artistes of the Burger Highlife tradition including Daddy Lumba, Rex Gyamfi, Nana Tuffour, Oheneba Kissi, and Daasebre, among others.
