The family of legendary Ghanaian highlife musician Daddy Lumba has commemorated the first anniversary of his passing with an emotional private remembrance ceremony at his East Legon residence in Accra.

The event, held on Sunday, July 26, brought together close family members, friends and associates to honour the life and legacy of the music icon, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu.

Emotional scenes marked the solemn occasion as relatives including Daddy Lumba's sister, Faustina Fosu, and his widow, Odo Broni, broke down in tears while paying tribute to the late musician, reflecting the deep sense of loss still felt a year after his death.

The family also unveiled Daddy Lumba's final resting place for the first time since his passing. 

The black tomb, housed inside a mausoleum at his East Legon home, is surrounded by the singer's numerous awards, plaques and cherished memorabilia, celebrating a career that spanned nearly four decades and produced more than 30 albums.

Daddy Lumba died on July 26, 2025, at the age of 60 following a brief illness at The Bank Hospital in Accra. 

His death prompted an outpouring of grief across Ghana and beyond with fans, fellow musicians and public figures paying tribute to his remarkable contribution to Ghana's highlife music industry.

One year after his passing, tributes continue to pour in from admirers who remember Daddy Lumba as one of Ghana's greatest musical icons, whose timeless songs and enduring influence remain deeply woven into the country's cultural heritage.
