Ghana honours icons of arts and tourism at 2025 National Tourism Awards
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has celebrated excellence in the country's arts, culture, and tourism sectors at the 2025 National Tourism Awards. The event, held at the Grand Arena in Accra, recognised individuals and institutions who have made significant contributions to shaping Ghana's national identity and global cultural presence.
Under the staff of the GTA, the event celebrated Ghana's rich artistic heritage and the tourism sector's potential to drive economic growth.
Agya Koo Nimo, a renowned traditional Ghanaian musician, received the Tourism Creative Luminary Award for his profound impact on the country's music scene.
The Tourism Minister's Legends Awards honoured notable figures, including musicians Amakye Dede, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, and Prof. Kofi Abraham; theatre and performing arts icons Prof. Esi Sutherland-Addy, Kwaw Ansah, Grace Omaboe, and Chief Moomen; and literary and visual arts contributors Prof. Lade Wosornu, James Barnor, and Chris Hesse.
GTA CEO Maame Efua Houadgeto emphasised the Authority's commitment to repositioning the tourism sector in line with President John Dramani Mahama's "Resetting Ghana" agenda.
She announced digital transformation initiatives, including the Ghana Tourism Information System, Experience Ghana App, and Virtual Ghana platform, aimed at enhancing the tourism experience and promoting sustainability.
The event also recognised outstanding performers in the tourism and hospitality industry, including Devtraco Plus (The Pelican Hotel), Safari Valley Resort, and Lakeside Marina Park.
Traditional leaders and media outlets were also honoured for their contributions to promoting Ghana's culture and tourism.
The ceremony featured captivating performances by Ghanaian artists, including Perez Musik, Adina Thembi, Bisa Kdei, and Nacee, showcasing the country's vibrant artistic heritage.
