Ghana to celebrate the Life and legacy of Highlife legend Daddy Lumba on December 6

Ghana will unite in song, memory, and gratitude as the Final Funeral Rites of the legendary Highlife musician, Daddy Lumba, are held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The event, themed “A Celebration of a Legendary Life,” will bring together family, friends, fans, and admirers from across the nation and beyond to honour a man whose music defined generations and shaped the landscape of Ghanaian Highlife.
Known for timeless hits such as Theresa, Aben Wo Ha, and Yentie Obiaa, Daddy Lumba — born Charles Kwadwo Fosu — leaves behind an enduring legacy of artistry, inspiration, and cultural pride.
His lyrical genius, unmatched stage presence, and contribution to modern Ghanaian music earned him recognition as one of Africa’s greatest musical icons.
The Baba Yara Sports Stadium is expected to be filled with tributes, live performances, and moments of reflection as the nation bids farewell to one of its most celebrated sons.
Organisers, DLFM describe the ceremony not only as a time of mourning but also a grand celebration of life, urging all who have been touched by Daddy Lumba’s music to attend and pay their respects.
As Ghana prepares to say goodbye, his melodies will continue to echo — reminding all that legends never truly die; they live on in the hearts of their people.
May the soul of the late Daddy Lumba rest in perfect peace.
