I’ll prefer to take my ‘Kologo’ to Kantamanto and play my music there than go to GHAMRO
Ghanaian musician King Ayisoba has said he prefers to play his music on the streets of Kantamanto, where, according to him, he may earn better than what the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), might pay him in royalties for a year.
The musician disclosed this in an interview with Larry Bozzlz on Time With The Stars on CTV.
According to the musician, he has not been to the GHAMRO in 10 years.
“What’s GHAMRO? The place where they give you GHS200 in a year. I haven’t been there in 10 years. I don’t go there,” the musician revealed.
“If I go playing my Kologo on the streets of Kanatamanto, and decide to even earn 50 pesewas from each person, I’ll make more than what GHAMRO pays in a year," he said.
The musician continued that: “It will be more than what GHAMRO will pay me in 10 years. Instead of wasting my time to go there, I’ll prefer to take my Kolgo to Kantamanto and play my music there.”
GHAMRO acts as a royalties collection agency in Ghana representing the rights of music copyright of holders.
Time with the Stars airs every Tuesday and Thursday at 2pm on CTV.
