Ghanaian gospel sensation Celestine Donkor has shared her refreshing perspective on award ceremonies, emphasising that the true victory begins with being nominated.

Speaking in an interview with host Taller Dee on Accra-based No.1 FM’s Gospel Showbiz, the singer explained that awards should not be seen as a matter of loss or disappointment.

According to Celestine, every nominee is a potential winner, and the fact that one person eventually takes home the award does not diminish the value of others in the category.

“If you are nominated, you are already a winner.

Anyone in the category can take the award, but it is just one person’s time.

For me, winning starts from the nomination,” she said.

When asked about the expenses artists incur for glamorous outfits on awards night, Celestine responded with joy, stressing that the dresses are not sewn merely to collect trophies.

“We sew dresses for the event so people see we came, that we were nominated, that we are alive and working.

Whether you win the ultimate or not, these are valuable aspects of the event,” she explained.

Her remarks highlighted the importance of visibility, recognition, and industry acknowledgement beyond the final announcement of winners.

Celestine’s outlook serves as a reminder that awards nights are celebrations of collective effort, not just individual triumph.
