Peetah: Family, Jamaican PM mourn as Morgan Heritage lead singer dies

Grammy winning Reggae band Morgan Heritage has lost its charismatic singer, Peetah, to death.
You can hear Peetah as the frontman on Morgan Heritage classics like Down By the River, Don’t Haffi Dread (To Be Rasta), She’s Still Loving Me, Pineapple Wine, and Pay Attention, among others.
The demise of Peter Anthony Morgan, alias Peetah, was annouced by his family, Sunday, February 25, 2024.
The cause of death was not revealed but the family requested for privacy, and prayers, expressing gratitude "in advance for your overwhelming love and support," too.

Reacting on X, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, noting "my heart is heavy," mourned the "colossal loss for Jamaican and for Reggae music".

It is reported Peetah Morgan was 46.
According to publicist and music marketer Sean ‘Contractor’ Edwards, speaking to dancehallmag.com, Peetah died in the United States of America of a possible stroke.
Morgan Heritage was formed by the children of Reggae veteran Denroy Morgan, who died in 2022. He famously fathered 30 children.
In August 2023, at the Independence Day Grand Gala at the National Stadium in St Andrew, Morgan Heritage was honoured with the Jamaica Reggae Icon Award for its extraordinary contribution to the evolution and growth of Jamaican music, a worldwide phenomenon.
