Perez Musik: I'm 'more than satisfied' with VMGAs noms

'Hewale Lala (Song of Strength)' hitmaker Perez Musik has said he is very pleased with the nominations list for the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) unveiled on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
Guesting on the No.1 Live Worship programme, Wednesday, March 22, 2023, on No.1 FM, 105.3, he also spoke on Urban Gospel artiste Scott Evans' grievances concerning the awards scheme and nominations.
"I am more than satisfied," he answered, adding that it would be sheer "pride and disrespectful" to say otherwise.
He explained by saying: "When I look back and consider where I am from and what I've been through, and where I am now, I give thanks to God.
"It's not like I have gone to pay for this or have some money stashed away... I thank God. I am very satisfied."
Perez said he does not know why Scott Evans is not satisfied with the VGMAs nominations and stated that he is yet to watch Evans' interview on No.1 FM during which he voiced his displeasure, however.
"But I also believe that Scott worked really hard," he noted. "Scott is doing something and I admire him from afar."
In Perez's view, Scott Evans, "by his work, is giving hope to a certain fraction of young Christians. He's encouraging them in a very beautiful way."
The record producer and singer-songwriter hailed "the quality and investment Scott puts into his projects," and stressed that he does not know why he is not satisfied.
"I'm sure there are better days ahead for him," he encouraged his fellow Gospel music star. "I'm very confident that Scott is going to do amazing [things]."
Perez revealed he was once a Urban Gospel artiste.
"I was with him [Scott Evans] in the Urban Gospel industry. We were all doing Urban Gospel and I appreciate what he is doing," he said.
With 'Hewale Lala', Perez Musik has the chance of clinching five trophies at the 24th edition of the VGMAs on Saturday, May 13, 2023: Best Gospel Song, Best Male Vocal Performance, Best Gospel Artiste, Songwriter of the Year and Record of the Year.
