Police investigates Shatta Wale gunshot claims
The Ghana Police Service has said it is investigating a claim that dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has been shot by unknown gunmen.
In a statement issued late Monday night, the police said its attention was drawn to the “widely circulated news” on the alleged gunshot attack on Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale.
The police said on hearing the news, it “launched an investigation into the matter” by making contact with some of “his close friends and family members and all of them claim not to have knowledge of his whereabouts or the alleged incident”.
“A team has visited the house of Shatta Wale and he cannot be found there”, the police noted.
“Over the last few hours, the police has searched and continue to look for Shatta Wale at hospitals in Accra”, the statement revealed.
It added: “While we continue our investigations, the police is appealing to the public to provide any information concerning the whereabouts of Shatta Wale to the numbers 18555, 191 and 0302773906”.
Shatta Wale’s road manager, Nana Dope, had claimed his boss was ambushed by some unknown gunmen in East Legon but the dancehall artiste managed to escape amidst gunshot wounds.
