A 16-year-old Senior Secondary School student at Mando SHS in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region, Bertha Andoh, is appealing to philanthropists and NGOs to come to her aid, as her three-month-old baby girl is distracting her education.

According to the 16-year-old SHS mother, she got pregnant during the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

She said she wrote the BECE with her pregnancy with determination so as to achieve her dream of becoming a nurse.

Miss Andoh told Accra100.5FM’s mid-day news that when the results for the BECE were released by the West African Examination Council (WAEC), she had passed and later got admission to Mando Senior High School.

She noted that at the time she entered SHS, she had given birth and the baby girl was a month old.

“I had to quickly put myself together to meet the admission requirements to enable me to enroll to achieve the dreams of becoming a nurse,” she told the news team.

She narrated how she has to sometimes skip lessons to breastfeed her baby who she carries to class and sometimes leaves with her auntie, a kitchen staff of the school.

She said she could not leave her three-month-old baby with her mother because she is incapacitated.

For her part, the auntie, who only gave her name as Auntie Alice, explained that her niece is determined to learn to make her dream a reality but she is distracted by her lactating baby.

She called on well-meaning individuals to come to her aid to enable her complete her education.

Meanwhile, Class Media Group is also appealing to members of the general public to send their support for the upkeep of the lactating mother to MoMo number 0241589538.
