The Ashanti Regional Constituency Chairmen's Caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a night vigil in honour of the party's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard 'Wontumi' Antwi-Boasiako.

In a statement dated July 27, 2026, the caucus said the vigil would be held on August 2026 at the DMB Regional Office in Asokwa, on the eve of the Ashanti Regional elections.

According to the caucus, the event is intended to express solidarity with Chairman Wontumi following his recent conviction and sentencing.

"We hold this vigil to stand in solidarity with Chairman Wontumi, whom we believe has suffered an injustice," the statement said.

The caucus also said the vigil would honour what it described as Chairman Wontumi's "legacy of unprecedented and illustrious leadership" as Ashanti Regional Chairman.

It added that the event was also intended to "send a clear signal, locally and internationally, that we will not stay silent."

The caucus called on constituency executives, party faithful and well-wishers to participate in the vigil, assuring that it would be conducted peacefully.

"The vigil will be peaceful and disciplined throughout," the statement said.

The statement was jointly signed by the Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Constituency Chairmen's Caucus, Kofi Acheampong, and its Secretary, Frederick Agyemang Mensah.
