A gesture of compassion: Haruna Iddrisu consoles Dr. Apaak and family
Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has visited the family of the late Pastor John Azundem Apaak in Bolgatanga to offer condolences as the family prepares to lay their father to rest on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
During his visit, the Minister conveyed heartfelt sympathies to Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South Constituency and Deputy Minister for Education, who is also the son of the late pastor, and to the rest of the family.
He acknowledged Pastor Apaak’s life of dedicated service and expressed hope that his example would continue to inspire future generations in the Builsa South community.
Pastor Apaak, aged 81, passed away on November 4, 2025. He was widely respected for his lifelong dedication to faith, ministry, and community service. His passing is considered a profound loss not only to his family but also to the Church, the Builsa traditional area, and the wider community.
The funeral proceedings are set to begin at the GNAT Hall in Bolgatanga with a Lying-in-State and Filing Past ceremony from 7:00 am to 8:30 am, allowing family members, church leaders, and sympathisers to pay their last respects. This will be followed by a Memorial and Burial Service at 9:00 am, during which tributes and prayers will celebrate Pastor Apaak’s life, spiritual legacy, and community contributions.
Following the service, the body will be transported to Dorninga in the Builsa South District, where he will be laid to rest at the family house. Mourners are expected to wear black and white in keeping with family tradition.
A Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 8:00 am at Deeper Life Bible Church, Sawaba, Bolgatanga. Attendees are expected to dress in all white to mark a celebration of Pastor Apaak’s life, reflecting the joy and gratitude for a life well lived.
Pastor Apaak is remembered as a mentor, disciplinarian, and peace-loving elder whose guidance and counsel were widely sought.
