The Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has reaffirmed its commitment to renewed collaboration with the Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) following what it described as a productive and forward-looking meeting between the two bodies.

In a statement issued after a meeting held on January 9, 2026, the Association said both sides have resolved earlier misunderstandings and agreed to strengthen cooperation based on mutual respect, dialogue, and shared goals aimed at improving Ghana’s trading environment.

The statement was signed by the Association’s Head of Communications, Mr. Takyie Addo.

The Association recalled that it had earlier, on December 15, 2025, issued a public statement raising concerns that led to a temporary disengagement from some GUTA activities.

Those concerns, according to the group, stemmed from communication gaps and the non-recognition of its executive leadership during the inauguration of the newly elected GUTA President.

However, the statement said subsequent engagements between the leadership of the two organisations have helped to resolve the outstanding issues.

Both parties have now reaffirmed their commitment to improved communication, stronger collaboration, and long-term unity.

The Abbossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association expressed appreciation to the Councils of Elders from both organisations for their role in mediating and facilitating dialogue, which it said was crucial in restoring harmony and consensus.

Chairman of the Association, Mr. Henry Okyere Jnr., congratulated the newly elected GUTA President on his assumption of office, expressing confidence in his leadership and calling for unity among trader groups under the GUTA umbrella.

He noted that the challenges confronting traders require cooperation rather than division, stressing the importance of teamwork and shared responsibility.

“We must work together as one team, share ideas, and support one another in order to protect our businesses, stabilise markets, and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.

The Association also welcomed GUTA’s renewed recognition of the role it plays in Ghana’s automotive and trading ecosystem and reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with GUTA to address industry challenges, promote fair trading practices, and support sustainable growth.
