Businessman Alhaji Seidu Agongo has called on wealthy individuals and the business community to come together to support victims of the recent floods, saying collective action is needed to ease the hardship facing affected families.

His appeal comes after he donated relief items worth GH¢1.45 million, including canned tomatoes, perfumed rice, milk and bales of cloth, to flood victims.

According to Alhaji Agongo, humanitarian support becomes even more important during times of crisis, when many people lose their homes, businesses and access to basic necessities.

"Togetherness and affection for one another matter, especially during difficult times," he said.

He stressed that supporting one another during hardship is a reminder that wealth is temporary and that humanity remains society's greatest asset.

"You cannot control everything, but you can support everything. When the floods happened, the Honourable MP reached out for assistance to provide humanitarian aid to the affected victims because even access to drinking water was a challenge," he said.

Alhaji Agongo urged other successful businesspeople to follow suit by pooling resources to assist vulnerable communities.

"I wish all businessmen in Ghana would come together as one formidable force to raise funds to support vulnerable victims. As businessmen, we find ways to create wealth, but wealth should also be used to solve problems and improve the lives of the less privileged," he said.

"We will not take our money with us when we leave this world; it is the impact we make on people's lives that creates a lasting legacy."

He described the donation as both a privilege and a blessing.

"Donating items worth GH¢1.45 million... to flood victims brings me immense joy and gratitude to God for the opportunity and blessing to be a blessing to others."

Alhaji Agongo said giving back to society is a responsibility and encouraged individuals with the means to support ongoing relief efforts for flood-affected communities across the country.

The June 29 floods killed scores, displaced thousands, and resulted in great damage to properties and livelihoods.
